Listen to My Silence

Listen to My Silence

A whispered promise,
a lover's touch, a lover's kiss,
you played my heart and soul,
brought me diamonds that were still coal,

my heart bled purples and blues,
my soul bled gray of many hues,
listen to my silence,” you said,
I would shutter; bones made of lead,

crowded thoughts and cluttered soul,
when I didn't answer, I saw the gaping hole,
the hole that you told me would never come back,
but you're not human, and your scars bleed black,

strangled cry and strangled laugh,
I was the one person who thought you daft,
it wasn't me you wanted, your soul plagued with fernweh,
I held you back and created a bigger price to pay,

you had always said there was sound inside of silence,
I didn't believe you, until you were silent; I heard penance,
perhaps your desire to run and never come back
wasn't an issue with your blood, but an issue with the color black...

A Different Kind of Love

just as the rain falls,
           so do my tears...

against the pane they slide,
like salty grief on my cheeks...

just as the thunder roars,
my heart beats, my soul screams,

as if there is no hope for the weary,
a strong arm of death; gripping...

just as the lightning flashes,
my eyes blink in tandem pain...

a soft whisper in the dark,
like a grasping for the stars at sunrise...

the gentle hug of the Otherworldly,
to think He loved me, too...

a father's touch and a mentor's guiding hand,
                               He picked me up...

with a different kind of love,
no one could have cared more...

just as the windshield wipers take away the rain,

His gentle fingers brushed my tears, took away the pain...

The Radical Soul

your hand sweeps over nations,
thoughts of world-changing fate,
a bit of a god-complex,
confidence without ego,
but your creative soul... oh!
Your beautiful right brain,
all that your heart holds dear...
but maybe it's just me,
or maybe you're really what we need,
to see the laws and rules of mankind

be broken; be shattered.

Bare Soul

Bare Soul //

The whispering wind brings in the slow and heavy fog,
the feather falls, caressing the air as it descends,
the pine cones lay frozen, mid-stare up into the galaxies,
the wispy tail of a shooting star – that burning ball of fire –
the bloodied bones of the human race lay bare the horrid soul,
the people seeking nothing more than a little light, a little hope...
the love of this life nothing more than a broken 'hallelujah'....

a whispering wind, bringing in the heavy storms,
a bird lost flight to shed feathers,
and the beauty we see in the death of summer
and in the falling of the galaxies...
that... that is the bloodied bones of the human race,
it's in our nature, our naked souls needing a Savior,
needing more than a broken cry in the night.

To Tell You the Truth

To Tell You the Truth
broken down into pieces,
glass shards dig into your palms,
a heart full of heresies,
have you once told the truth?
have you once said anything good?
You laugh without mirth,
it's no secret you're in too deep,
love, you're in too deep...
you come and you sew and you reap...
the cycle of life is not meant to be full of lies,
and yet, not a single word you said was true,

what a foolish move for someone so wise....

Dry Bones

Dry Bones

death spelt out in the sand,
marble tombstones covering it,
grass, lay a flower or two there,
don't look, don't step on that,
bad luck...
ghosts coming to haunt you,
marble tombstones cover death,
the beauty on the outside,
the dry bones on the inside,
glassy eyeballs and white skin cover you,
but on the inside, you're no different,
you lay a flower in your hair,
you cover up to look your best,
an appearance of beauty,
dry bones on the inside,
no soul there, no life,
how are you any different from
the graveyard of dry bones?
